Srinagar, September 04, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of AYUSH, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, for sanctioning 35 Ayurveda PG seats for the Government Ayurvedic Medical College (GAMC) in Akhnoor, marking a historic first for Jammu and Kashmir.In a post on X at 10:03 PM IST, the Lt Governor described the allocation as a “huge gift” for Ayurveda aspirantsin the Union Territory. He highlighted the global rise of Ayurveda, noting its adoption worldwide for holistic healthcare, addressing body, mind, and spirit, and managing various diseases through traditional medicinepractices.
The introduction of seven new PG Degree Programmes with 35 seats at GAMC Akhnoor is set to bolster J&K’s health architecture and promote preventive and holistic care. The Lt Governor emphasized that these programs will enhance human resources in Ayurveda practices and research, fostering collaborations to further popularize the traditional medicine system in the region.
