Srinagar, December 13, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday interacted with the bereaved families of those killed in the accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station last month, handing over appointment letters on compassionate grounds to their next of kin at Srinagar’s Lok Bhavan.Paying tributes to the martyrs, the LG expressed deep gratitude to the families and reaffirmed the nation’s solidarity. “The entire nation stands united with the families of martyrs to ensure they live a life of comfort and dignity,” Sinha said, emphasizing unwavering support for the kin of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.The meeting comes nearly a month after the tragic incident on November 14, when an accidental explosion of seized explosives at Nowgam Police Station claimed nine lives – including police personnel, revenue officials, and a civilian – and injured several others.
The blast occurred during forensic sampling related to an ongoing terror investigation that unraveled a Jaish-e-Mohammad interstate module.Praising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the LG stated that the country is proud of their efforts in “stopping terror in its tracks” through meticulous investigation and dismantling terror networks. He directed senior officers to intensify measures to disrupt terrorist financing pipelines and counter radicalisation attempts by separatist elements.The event was attended by top officials, including Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr Mandeep K.
