Srinagar, October 21, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the administrative head of Jammu and Kashmir, led solemn commemorations on Police Commemoration Day, honoring the supreme sacrifices of J&K Police martyrs who have embodied duty, discipline, loyalty, and selfless service in safeguarding the nation. Speaking at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Armed Police Complex, Zewan, LG Sinha paid heartfelt tributes to the brave personnel who have prioritized the nation’s development and the lives of fellow citizens above their own, ensuring the tricolor remains aloft even at great personal cost.In his address, LG Sinha highlighted the profound impact of the J&K Police, stating, “J&K Police is the epitome of duty, discipline, loyalty, and selfless service. Our brave personnel have always placed the nation’s development and the lives of fellow citizens above their own. They have kept the tricolor flying high, even at the cost of their lives.” He expressed deepest gratitude to the serving police personnel and their families for their unyielding commitment to keeping citizens safe and upholding the rule of law amid challenging circumstances.
LG Manoj Sinha also acknowledged the staggering toll of service, recalling that 1,614 J&K Police personnel have laid down their lives in the line of duty, with 1,016 officers contributing to the security and integrity of the country in recent years. He emphasized the nation’s recognition of the force’s “mettle and unflinching resolve” in upholding peace and security in the Union Territory, crediting their efforts for fostering stability and enabling rapid development.Reflecting on broader reforms, the Lieutenant Governor noted India’s shift from colonial-era penal systems to three new criminal justice laws that prioritize justice over punishment. He urged the use of modern technology to combat misinformation and called for collective vigilance against forces disrupting harmony and normalcy. “We need to remain united and support our police in their mission to build a drug-free, secure Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha added, reaffirming commitments to enhanced training and coordination for counter-terrorism.The event included a wreath-laying ceremony and a blood donation camp, symbolizing ongoing solidarity. LG Sinha concluded by pledging continued backing for the police, army, and Central Armed Police Forces, inspiring attendees to honor the martyrs through actions that promote courage, unity, and national service.
