Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha presided over a high-level meeting to review the security situation in Jammu Division, emphasising a robust approach to counterterrorism and strengthen border security. He directed officials to implement decisive measures aimed at eradicating terrorism from the region, dismantling its infrastructure, and eliminating local support systems.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need to completely eliminate remnants of terrorism from Jammu Division. He called for comprehensive efforts to dismantle the local networks and infrastructure supporting terrorism, ensuring that no traces of such activity remain in the region. He also directed the J&K Police to take stringent action against those providing logistical or financial support to terrorism. “Acts intended to create fear in society must be classified as terrorism and the individuals or groups involved should face the full force of the law,” he stated.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that every perpetrator and supporter of terrorism must face legal consequences. He called for enhanced intelligence capabilities to better identify and neutralize terrorist threats, ensuring the safety of citizens. He urged security agencies to be fully prepared for both conventional and non-conventional threats, ensuring a comprehensive defense strategy to protect the region.
The Lieutenant Governor directed enhanced measures to secure Jammu’s borders, particularly against asymmetric threats arising from porous borders, riverine areas, and difficult mountain terrain. He emphasised the need for improved coordination among security agencies to provide vital support in these areas.
The meeting also discussed the roadmap for technology-driven policing, capacity building of the police force, and improvements in cyber patrolling and monitoring. A key focus was on credible intelligence gathering, real-time sharing of operational intelligence, and the execution of anti-terror operations based on precise inputs. The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the importance of reinforcing local police establishments, ensuring modern and efficient policing at the grassroots level. He also called for strengthening the legal framework to address terrorism-related propaganda.
In attendance were senior officials, including DGP J&K Shri Nalin Prabhat, ADGP Armed Shri Anand Jain, IGP Jammu Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, and other top-ranking officers from J&K Police. The IGP Railways also provided an in-depth presentation on the security measures implemented for railway stations and tracks.
The Lieutenant Governor concluded the meeting by reiterating the need for unified efforts from all security agencies to maintain peace and ensure the security of citizens.
