Srinagar,July 19,2026-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the rescue and relief operations in Rajouri and Poonch following incessant rainfall and flash floods that have affected several areas in the twin border districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor is closely monitoring the situation and has directed Deputy Commissioners and senior officials to provide immediate assistance to all affected families. He also instructed authorities to ensure that emergency response teams remain fully prepared to tackle any further emergencies.
Rescue operations are underway in Rajouri, with teams from the civil administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local volunteers working together to evacuate stranded residents and provide relief. The affected families have already been shifted to safer locations, while all departments remain on high alert, prioritising rescue, relief, and restoration work.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Rajouri and the Haveli and Surankote areas of Poonch, the Lieutenant Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He also noted that the heavy rains have damaged several homes across Rajouri and Poonch and directed officials to provide immediate aid and necessary support to every affected family. The administration has been instructed to continue monitoring the situation closely and maintain full preparedness for any eventuality.
The Lieutenant Governor further appealed to residents to remain calm, cooperate with the authorities, and follow only official advisories and updates regarding the weather and rescue operations.
