Srinagar, 3 September 2025: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Wednesday reviewed the ground situation across Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of incessant rain and floods that have disrupted life in several districts.
The Lieutenant Governor held discussions with senior officials and was briefed about the ongoing rescue and relief operations being carried out by the Army, Air Force, CAPFs, NDRF, SDRF, and district administrations. He was informed that flood-affected people in Akhnoor were safely evacuated by BSF, NDRF, and Police teams, while nearly 67 villages in Anantnag, Budgam, and Pulwama were shifted to safer locations. Nomadic families in Pulwama and Shopian have also been provided temporary shelters by local administrations.
In Srinagar city, nine relief shelters have been kept ready to deal with emergencies. Manoj Sinha directed officials to take all preventive measures against waterborne diseases and ensure timely supply of rations, medicines, blankets, LPG cylinders, and clean drinking water to affected families. He also instructed for speedy restoration of power and other essential infrastructure.
The Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to remain cautious and follow safety advisories, assuring that no effort is being spared by the Centre to provide timely assistance.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Kangri, Sunderbani area of Rajouri district due to the heavy rain, Manoj Sinha extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the well-being of those affected.
