Kashmir, February 12,2026-Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, in a major address at the Kisan Mela, emphasised that the interests of farmers in the Union Territory are being fully safeguarded in all trade deals and agricultural policies. The LG also highlighted the government’s push for AI-based agricultural tools and precision irrigation technologies to boost productivity and efficiency in farming.
During the event, the LG interacted with farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs, encouraging the adoption of modern farming techniques, digital solutions, and sustainable practices. Officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the agriculture sector, improve crop yields, and ensure farmers receive fair returns.
The LG reiterated that farmers’ welfare remains a top priority, with measures being implemented to protect them in market transactions and provide access to government schemes, subsidies, and technological support.
The Kisan Mela also showcased precision irrigation systems, AI-driven crop management tools, and innovations in seed technology, enabling farmers to optimize water usage, reduce input costs, and enhance productivity. Experts present at the mela highlighted how digital tools and modern practices are transforming agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir.
