J&K LG Manoj Sinha pays tribute on Armed Forces Flag Day, urges generous donations

Jammu, December 7: The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir observed Armed Forces Flag Day , with Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha leading the commemoration at Raj Bhavan. On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor paid heartfelt homage to the brave soldiers, sailors, and airmen of the Indian Armed Forces, acknowledging their unparalleled dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the nation.

The Lieutenant Governor, who pinned the Armed Forces Flag, expressed his deep gratitude by contributing to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, a vital initiative aimed at supporting veterans, their families, and serving personnel. In his address, Shri Sinha underscored the pivotal role of the Armed Forces in ensuring national security and maintaining peace, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Our Armed Forces have always remained at the forefront, ready to serve the nation with unwavering commitment, whether it is safeguarding borders or offering critical assistance during natural calamities,” said the Lieutenant Governor. “In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army has played a key role in countering terrorism and providing a secure environment, especially for people living along the borders and in remote, inaccessible areas.”

He further highlighted the vital contribution of the Armed Forces in the socio-economic growth of the region, stating, “Thanks to their sacrifices, we are now on a historic path of fast-track development, working relentlessly to ensure the benefits of growth reach every corner of our Union Territory.”

The Lieutenant Governor appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those in privileged sections of society, to generously donate to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, as a token of gratitude for the sacrifices made by the men and women in uniform. He encouraged everyone to show their appreciation and solidarity with the Armed Forces.

“I convey my best wishes to all serving and retired Armed Forces personnel, as well as their families, on this important day,” he added.

Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd.), Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, Jammu and Kashmir, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on various welfare schemes and initiatives designed to support veterans, war widows, dependents, and serving personnel.
