Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar to finalise preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025, set to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9. This annual pilgrimage, a cornerstone of spiritual and socio-economic significance in Jammu and Kashmir, drew a diverse group of stakeholders, including civil society organizations, religious leaders, elected representatives, and members of the trade and business community. The meeting underscored a collective commitment to ensuring a seamless, secure, and spiritually enriching experience for devotees. LG Sinha described the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra as a “people’s pilgrimage,” emphasizing the pivotal role of every citizen in its success. He urged stakeholders to transform the yatra into a vibrant celebration of spirituality, unity, and communal harmony, positioning it as a powerful symbol of Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and promising future. The pilgrimage, centered around the holy Amarnath Cave, is expected to attract lakhs of devotees, with registrations surging due to enhanced facilities and streamlined processes. The meeting focused on comprehensive arrangements overseen by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, J&K administration, J&K Police, and security forces. Key measures include robust security deployments, inter-agency coordination, and meticulous contingency planning to navigate the challenging terrains of the pilgrimage routes. LG Sinha stressed the importance of pilgrims traveling in designated convoys to ensure safety, alongside the implementation of innovative measures like tatkal registration and RFID cards for efficient tracking and management. Additionally, over 106 lodgment centers across Jammu have been established to accommodate more than 50,000 yatris, with private vehicles involved in the yatra granted full security cover. LG Sinha welcomed valuable inputs from prominent attendees, including the Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, District Development Council (DDC) Chairpersons, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and representatives from various socio-religious and trade organizations. These stakeholders pledged unwavering support to ensure the yatra’s smooth conduct, recognizing its profound impact on the region’s composite culture and economy. The LG assured that the administration would address all demands and concerns raised during the meeting, aligning efforts with the aspirations of the people and pilgrims. Reflecting on Jammu and Kashmir’s ethos of inclusivity, LG Sinha remarked, “Jammu and Kashmir has always embraced diversity, rejecting distinctions between sects and religions. Let us welcome the lakhs of devotees arriving for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra with this spirit and ensure a peaceful, hassle-free pilgrimage.” He expressed confidence that, with the blessings of Baba Amarnath, the yatra would reinforce the region’s legacy of religious harmony and unity. The collaborative efforts of the administration and local communities over the past four years have transformed the yatra into a collective endeavor, fostering a sense of shared responsibility. The peaceful and successful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 is poised to amplify Jammu and Kashmir’s message of unity, resilience, and cultural richness to the world.
