JAMMU, FEBRUARY 17: Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the inaugural edition of the Sikh Cricket Premier League in Jammu. The event marks a significant step in combining sports, culture, and social initiatives to empower the Sikh community, particularly its youth, in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee for their vital role in preserving the community’s rich heritage while fostering a sense of pride and responsibility among the youth. He noted, “This is not just a sporting event but a cultural and social initiative that reflects our commitment to holistic community development, aiming to build a brighter future for the youth of the Sikh community in J&K.”
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that Jammu and Kashmir is focusing on inclusive growth, aiming for the socio-economic development of all sections of society. He remarked, “Such initiatives are the key to equitable growth and socio-economic change, promoting unity, discipline, and harmony.”
Highlighting the importance of Public-Private Partnerships for youth empowerment, LG Sinha said, “PPP models can provide us with an extensive network of skilling and entrepreneurship projects, taking these resources to the grassroots level.” He also emphasized his commitment to creating an enabling policy environment that addresses the concerns of the youth in a swift and effective manner, referencing the initiation of PPP projects in 2020.
Further, LG Sinha stressed the importance of ensuring that the Sikh community’s youth has access to opportunities that enable them to contribute meaningfully to society. He said, “Our youth from the Sikh community represent the very core around which socio-economic growth and societal transformation can take shape. We are dedicated to integrating them into the development process.”
Encouraging youth to take inspiration from their ancestors, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to make their community and the nation proud. During his interaction with the media, he also expressed confidence in the strength and coordination of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security forces in addressing terrorism and its ecosystem.
