J&K LG Manoj Sinha flags Off Indian Air Force Car Rally

Today, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) flagged off a car rally from Srinagar, which marks an important event in the region. The Indian Air Force-Uttarakhand War Memorial (UWM) historic car rally arrived in Srinagar as part of its remarkable journey. This first-of-its-kind rally covers an impressive 7,000 kilometers, starting from the Siachen Air Base at Thoise, passing through Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, and culminating in Delhi for a grand finale in mid-November. Fifteen 4×4 Jimny vehicles, driven by senior Air Force personnel, are traversing India’s highways, with participation from two women army officers—renowned mountaineers, including one who has summited Mount Everest. The rally received a resounding send-off in Leh from Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brigadier (Retd) B.D. Mishra, alongside thousands of enthusiastic Ladakhi youth. A similar grand send-off is planned in Srinagar, which will be attended by top dignitaries. Upon arrival in Srinagar, the rally participants were welcomed by the Station Commander of the Srinagar Air Base, Air Commodore Prabhat Malik, along with the Chairman of the Uttarakhand War Memorial, Tarun Vijay. The rally is led by Wing Commander Vijay Prakash Bhatt, a celebrated adventurist. The primary purpose of this historic rally is to inspire the youth to join the Indian Air Force, raise awareness of its remarkable achievements, and cultivate respect and love for the armed forces. Events like this not only promote adventure and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir but also foster a sense of unity and pride among the residents, celebrating the valour and dedication of the armed forces.
