Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha recently felicitated the recipients of the Maharaja Hari Singh Peace & Harmony Award, an event that underscored the ongoing commitment to promoting peace, unity, and social cohesion in Jammu & Kashmir. The award itself is named after Maharaja Hari Singh, the last ruler of Jammu & Kashmir, who is remembered for his attempts to foster a harmonious and inclusive society in a region marked by diversity. His approach to governance emphasised peace and tolerance, ensuring the coexistence of different religious and cultural communities. The event served not only as a ceremonial recognition but also as a platform to highlight the importance of community-driven initiatives that promote harmony. He in his address, underscored the administration’s focus on building a peaceful future for the Union Territory while honouring those who have made significant contributions toward peacebuilding, dialogue, and unity. The recipients of the award, whether individuals, organisations, or local heroes, were celebrated for their tireless efforts in creating bridges among different communities, often in the face of adversity. Through this award, the administration is reaffirming its commitment to honouring the legacy of Maharaja Hari Singh, whose vision of a peaceful and united Jammu & Kashmir continues to inspire modern-day peace efforts. This initiative also emphasises the importance of promoting communal harmony and resilience within a region that has historically faced conflict. By recognising these efforts, the event reinforced the idea that peace is not just a political necessity, but a collective goal that requires the involvement of every member of society.
