J&K LG Manoj Sinha celebrates Utkala Dibasa, lauds Odisha’s cultural heritage and progress

Jammu, April 01, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha attended the Odisha Day ‘Utkala Dibasa’ celebration on April 01, 2025, hosted by the Jammu Kashmir Raj Bhawan in Jammu. The event, marking the formation of Odisha as a state in 1936, saw participation from officials, students, faculty members of various educational institutions, and members of the Odisha diaspora living in the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory.

Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha extended his heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to the people on the occasion of Utkala Dibasa. “Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, ancient monuments, literature, visual, performing arts, and rich tapestry of traditions are contributing to the vibrant, unique, and diverse culture of our country. I pray for good health, well-being, and prosperity of the people of this blessed land,” he said.

He paid tributes to Odisha’s great luminaries and highlighted the state’s significant contributions to India’s folk traditions, literature, handicrafts, customs, and performing arts. “Odisha boasts a rich literary tradition, incredibly diverse cuisine, architectural heritage, handloom and handicrafts, sacred festivals like Rath Yatra, and it has also contributed three distinct schools of dance to the rich culture of India,” he noted, emphasising the state’s multifaceted legacy.

LG Manoj Sinha also praised Odisha’s contemporary achievements, stating, “The state is writing a new saga of progress. The people are contributing enthusiastically in this development journey. I am confident that Odisha will play a leading role in the journey towards a developed India.” His remarks reflect optimism about Odisha’s future as a key contributor to India’s growth and development.

The Utkala Dibasa celebration served as a platform to honour Odisha’s historical significance and its ongoing progress, bringing together diverse communities to celebrate the state’s unique identity. The event underscored the unity in diversity that defines India, with Odisha’s cultural and developmental strides standing as a shining example.
