Jammu, October 30,2025: A Sikh delegation called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhavan to discuss arrangements for the upcoming Nagar Kirtan and measures for the promotion of Punjabi language and culture across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed gratitude to the UT administration for its continuous support to the Sikh community and apprised the LG of various initiatives being undertaken to preserve and promote Punjabi heritage, including educational and cultural activities.
The Lieutenant Governor assured the delegation of full cooperation from the administration in ensuring smooth conduct of Nagar Kirtan processions and related religious events. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the linguistic and cultural diversity of Jammu and Kashmir.
LG Sinha emphasised that Punjabi, being one of the officially recognised languages of the Union Territory, holds a vital place in J&K’s multicultural fabric. He encouraged the community to actively involve youth in cultural programmes and language promotion efforts.
The delegation lauded the Jammu and Kashmir Government for its inclusive policies and development-oriented approach benefiting all communities.
