J&K LG Manoj Sinha chairs 7th J&K UT wildlife board meeting in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 4,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday chaired the 7th meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Board at Lok Bhavan, reviewing key conservation initiatives and policy measures aimed at strengthening wildlife protection across the Union Territory.

The meeting focused on biodiversity conservation, habitat restoration, and protection of endangered species, with senior officials from the Forest, Wildlife, and Environment departments in attendance. Discussions were also held on enhancing eco-tourism potential while ensuring ecological balance in protected areas.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasized the need for sustainable development aligned with conservation goals, stressing that preservation of J&K’s rich natural heritage is vital for future generations. He directed departments to adopt scientific management practices, strengthen anti-poaching measures, and improve monitoring systems in wildlife sanctuaries and national parks.

Key proposals related to expansion of protected areas, mitigation of human-wildlife conflict, and community participation were also reviewed. The Board highlighted the importance of involving local communities in conservation efforts to ensure long-term success.

Officials briefed the Lieutenant Governor on ongoing projects under various centrally sponsored schemes, including initiatives for wetland conservation, afforestation, and wildlife corridor development.

The meeting concluded with directions to accelerate implementation of conservation policies, promote awareness, and ensure strict enforcement of wildlife protection laws across Jammu and Kashmir.
