Srinagar, September 16, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the closing ceremony of Jashn-e-Dal, the annual Water Sports event organised by Jammu Kashmir Police at the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar. The three-day tournament, featuring participation from around 750 athletes across various water sports disciplines, aimed to promote youth engagement while fostering unity, harmony, and camaraderie among participants.In his address, LG Sinha congratulated the Jammu Kashmir Police for their pivotal role in nation-building, upholding the rule of law, ensuring public safety, and combating terrorism.
He highlighted the force’s proactive community engagement and youth empowerment initiatives, describing them as a “guardian for the youth of Jammu Kashmir” by providing opportunities, resources, support, and mentorship to cultivate civic responsibility and inclusive development. LG Sinha called upon the athletes to serve as role models, inspiring young people to pursue their goals and steer clear of the drug menace.
“I want our youth to act as powerful agents of change by leveraging their energy, discipline, perseverance, and creativity,” he emphasized, underscoring how events like Jashn-e-Dal, Pedal for Peace, and various marathons, football, and cricket tournaments symbolize a “new and positive chapter” for the region’s youth. He further urged young volunteers, alongside the police, to participate in community-driven efforts such as cleanliness campaigns, tree plantation programs, and support for weaker sections of society.
The ceremony concluded with LG Manoj Sinha taking a ceremonial salute during an impressive pedal pass and felicitating the winners. The event, attended by DGP Nalin Prabhat, Special DG Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP Armed Anand Jain, senior police and civil officials, members of water sports associations, prominent sports personalities, and a large number of youth, reinforced the government’s commitment to harnessing sports for social harmony and youth development in Jammu and Kashmir.
