On a tranquil day at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir celebrated a historic moment of spiritual and cultural resonance. The inaugural ceremony of the revered Ram Katha, delivered by renowned spiritual orator Pujya Morari Bapu, marked a milestone in the region’s journey toward peace and unity. Attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, devotees, and community leaders, the event honoured Lord Ram’s timeless teachings of righteousness, compassion, and universal brotherhood. In his address, LG Manoj Sinha called the Ram Katha a “universal language” that transcends cultural and religious boundaries. “It carries Prabhu Shri Ram’s message of justice, duty, and compassion,” he said, emphasising its role in shaping civilizations and fostering moral clarity. He praised Pujya Morari Bapu’s global mission to spread the Ramcharitmanas, noting that his discourses unite diverse communities through truth and love. “The Ram Katha inspires billions, offering a moral compass in a divided world,” Sinha added, highlighting its transformative power. The nine-day recitation of Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas is a spiritual odyssey, inviting reflection on Lord Ram’s virtuous life. LG Manoj Sinha underscored its relevance today, portraying Lord Ram as a model of equity and justice. “In an era of ethical challenges, the Ram Katha fosters compassion and unity,” he said, urging Jammu & Kashmir’s people to embrace these values to strengthen societal bonds and advance peace. The audience, enveloped by devotional chants, resonated with his call for harmony. Pujya Morari Bapu, having delivered over 900 Kathas worldwide, brought pride to Srinagar, a city long celebrated for its pluralistic heritage. Nestled amid the Himalayas, Srinagar has blended traditions like Sufism and Shaivism, and the Ram Katha added to its cultural tapestry. The event’s serene ambiance reflected the Valley’s legacy as a sanctuary of wisdom. LG Sinha’s presence underscored the administration’s commitment to promoting Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural heritage. He thanked the organizers and expressed hope that the Ram Katha’s message would inspire the youth. “It’s a call to live with integrity and empathy,” he said.
