Srinagar, August 30: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir,Shri Manoj Sinha, today felicitated the recipients of the International Buddha Peace Awards and the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Awards, organised by the Buddhanjali Research Foundation, in Srinagar.
The event was also attended by Shri Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, along with several dignitaries and senior officials.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the award winners for their remarkable contributions to society. He lauded them as true embodiments of courage, harmony, peace, selfless service, and nationalism, reflecting the idea of India.
“The contribution of each one of the Awardees is an inspiration for all. They represent the values of Mahatma Buddha and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and remind us to work for peace, harmony, and the welfare of humanity,” said the Lieutenant Governor.
Calling upon the youth to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of Mahatma Buddha and *Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Shri Sinha urged them to contribute to nation-building by serving society with dedication and spreading the values of morality, peace, and harmony.
Highlighting India’s progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Lieutenant Governor said:
“An aspiring India is moving towards becoming a Viksit Bharat. Along with self-reliance, new self-confidence has been awakened in the country. India today stands as a hope for the world and can guide humanity towards a prosperous and happy future.”
On the occasion, Shri Sinha also paid homage to citizens who lost their lives in the recent *natural calamities in Jammu and Kashmir, assuring that both the Government of India and the UT Administration are committed to the rehabilitation of affected families.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to social justice and empowerment, the Lieutenant Governor stressed that the upliftment of weaker and deprived sections, along with the empowerment of youth and women, remains a key priority of the government.
The ceremony was graced by several prominent personalities including Ms. Neelam Sonker, former Member of Parliament; Shri Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Shri Kailash Masoom, Chairman, Buddhanjali Research Foundation; Shri Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar; Shri Basharat Qayoom, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama; Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, SSP Srinagar; Shri Dasbabu Jayswal; and film actor Shri Yuvraj Kumar.
The felicitation event witnessed participation from senior officials and citizens from diverse walks of life, celebrating the values of peace, social harmony, and inclusivity.
