J&K LG Manoj Sinha addressed South India BHU Alumni meet in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, February 2: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha addressed the South India BHU Alumni Meet at the IICT Auditorium in Hyderabad , commemorating the foundation day of Banaras Hindu University . In his speech, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted BHU’s enduring legacy and its profound impact on India’s educational and socio-political landscape.

The Lieutenant Governor began by paying tribute to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the visionary founder of BHU, stating, “Mahamana’s vision was to create a university that would help build a new India. BHU has successfully fulfilled that dream. It has not only preserved our core ideals, traditions, and values but also shaped the destiny of the country by transforming the entire education system.”

He emphasized that BHU had played a pivotal role in fostering the spirit of India’s freedom movement since its establishment in 1916, awakening the nation’s collective consciousness. In the post-Independence era, the university became a catalyst for socio-economic and industrial transformation, contributing significantly to building a strong, self-reliant India.

“The ideals of Mahamana, rooted in three key objectives—liberating India, rebuilding industries for a developed India, and providing the youth with the best education for a brighter future—laid the foundation for a modern, self-reliant nation,” said the Lieutenant Governor.

Shri Manoj Sinha also acknowledged BHU’s commitment to Mahamana’s vision of economic empowerment and cultural enlightenment, with the university serving as a confluence of knowledge, culture, and patriotism. “BHU will always be remembered as the birthplace of revolutionary ideas that have guided India’s journey towards self-reliance,” he stated.

The Lieutenant Governor referenced a recent monograph published during India’s Amrit Mahotsav, which recognized BHU’s crucial role in the nation’s progress. He quoted from the monograph, noting that BHU students were not just scholars but agents of change. Many went on to become leaders in India’s struggle for independence and were instrumental in shaping the country’s future.

The monograph further highlighted BHU’s role in empowering women, with the university providing a world-class education that defied the colonial regime and nurtured future leaders, thinkers, and achievers.

Shri Manoj Sinha also praised the accomplishments of BHU’s distinguished alumni, acknowledging their contributions to groundbreaking innovations and their role in fostering a vibrant global ecosystem that has driven widespread social and economic change.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor extended his heartfelt greetings to all present for Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja, wishing them prosperity and success.
