Srinagar, April 25, 2025 — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police on Friday, issuing directives to enforce the exit of Pakistani nationals from the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory as per the deadline set by the Ministry of Home Affairs . The directive follows heightened security concerns after the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, predominantly tourists.
The meeting, held in Srinagar, focused on implementing stringent security measures and ensuring compliance with the MHA’s notification. LG Manoj Sinha instructed officials to take “appropriate and necessary action” to meet the deadline, emphasising coordinated efforts to maintain law and order. The move comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly after the terror attack linked to two Pakistani nationals and a local Kashmiri militant.
The MHA’s order aligns with national security measures, including the suspension of visa services for Pakistani nationals and revocation of existing visas, effective April 27, 2025. This decision was prompted by the Cabinet Committee on Security’s response to the Pahalgam attack, attributed to Pakistan-backed terrorist groups.
Official statements from the Lieutenant Governor’s office and regional news outlets confirmed the meeting and the instructions given to DCs and SSPs. The J&K administration’s proactive stance underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding the Union Territory amid rising cross-border threats.
