Kashmir,February 28,2025-The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced a comprehensive overhaul of its building permission rules, aiming to simplify the construction approval process, enhance transparency, and promote planned urban development across the Union Territory.
The revised building permission regulations are designed to make the approval mechanism more efficient by reducing procedural delays and introducing clearer compliance guidelines for residential and commercial construction projects. Officials said the move will benefit homeowners, builders, architects, and developers by ensuring faster processing of applications and minimizing bureaucratic hurdles.
Under the revamped framework, emphasis has been laid on digitization of applications, stricter adherence to building bylaws, and improved monitoring mechanisms to prevent unauthorized constructions. The updated norms also seek to strengthen coordination among urban local bodies and development authorities for smoother implementation.
Authorities stated that the reforms are part of broader governance measures aimed at improving the ease of doing business and encouraging sustainable infrastructure growth in both urban and semi-urban areas of Jammu & Kashmir.
Urban planning experts believe the new building permission rules will not only ensure orderly expansion of cities and towns but also enhance accountability and transparency in the construction sector.
The government has urged stakeholders to familiarize themselves with the updated regulations and comply with the prescribed procedures to avoid penalties and legal complications.
