Jammu and Kashmir, May 14, 2025 – In a significant move to address the clerical staff shortage and enhance rural governance, the Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed 122 Junior Assistants in the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department (RDDPR). This recruitment drive is set to strengthen the public service delivery mechanism across rural areas of the Union Territory.
Mohammad Aijaz Asad, Secretary of RDDPR, emphasized the importance of these new appointments, stating, “The recruitment of 122 Junior Assistants will significantly bolster the administrative framework of the Rural Development Department. This step will enhance rural governance by ensuring efficient implementation of state and centrally sponsored schemes, ultimately improving the quality of life in rural Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Rural Development Department plays a pivotal role in driving sustainable and inclusive growth in rural areas through programs like MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin), and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). The addition of Junior Assistants is expected to streamline administrative processes, improve transparency, and facilitate better coordination in the execution of these schemes.
This recruitment addresses a long-standing shortage of clerical staff, which has impacted the department’s ability to manage records and implement development programs effectively. The new appointees will support Block Development Officers, Panchayat Inspectors, and other field functionaries, ensuring smoother operations at the district and block levels.
The initiative has been welcomed by local communities, who see it as a step toward empowering rural areas through improved governance. The Jammu and Kashmir government remains committed to fostering sustainable development and self-reliance in rural regions, with these appointments marking a key milestone in that journey.
