Jammu, October 30,2025: The Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir reviewed the preparations for the grand commemoration of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, a milestone event celebrating India’s timeless patriotic legacy. Departments across the Union Territory have been directed to organise cultural, literary, and educational activities to mark the occasion with enthusiasm and national pride.
During the high-level meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among district administrations, educational institutions, and cultural bodies to ensure meaningful participation by youth and citizens. Events such as patriotic song competitions, essay writing, debates, art exhibitions, and heritage walks will be held across schools, colleges, and universities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials briefed the Chief Secretary on the preparations underway, highlighting initiatives to showcase the historical significance of ‘Vande Mataram’, written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875, and its enduring role in India’s freedom struggle.
The Chief Secretary urged departments to make the celebrations inclusive, creative, and reflective of India’s cultural diversity, while fostering a sense of unity, patriotism, and national integration.
