Srinagar, July 15, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a transformative phase, heralded as its “golden era” by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who has prioritised equal opportunities for the region’s long-neglected communities, including the poor, farmers, youth, and women. Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Bharat Sanrachna J&K 2025’ exhibition and public outreach initiative in Srinagar, Sinha emphasised the Union Territory’s remarkable progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ensuring that dreams once denied are now being delivered.Sinha highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir has undergone a paradigm shift since 2014, with its economy doubling in the past five to six years and the Jammu and Kashmir Bank turning a profit of ₹1,700 crore from a previous loss of ₹1,300 crore. The region has emerged as a favored investment destination, with increasing business process outsourcing (BPO) units signaling economic vitality. “J&K is writing stories of its golden era by ensuring equal opportunities to the aspirations of the deprived classes, farmers, women, and youth. What was previously impossible in J&K has been made possible,” Sinha stated.
The Lieutenant Governor underscored the administration’s commitment to empowering marginalised groups. Strategic initiatives in agriculture and allied sectors have been implemented to uplift farmers, with Sinha noting at the Baba Jitto Fair in Jhiri that his administration is accelerating transformation to empower rural communities. Youth are being inspired to explore new frontiers, with Sinha expressing hope that Jammu and Kashmir’s youngsters will join the space sector as astronauts, driven by central government schemes and innovations. Women and the poor are also benefiting from welfare programs, with Sinha’s administration ensuring access to government services through initiatives like ‘Bharat Sanrachna J&K 2025,’ which connects youth, farmers, entrepreneurs, and citizens to opportunities in sectors like tourism, agriculture, and technology.
Sinha’s focus on inclusive development extends to addressing historical injustices. He recently met terror victim families in Anantnag, promising justice and job opportunities under SRO-43, which had previously been misused. “Jobs at the doorsteps of terror victim families will be ensured. I will be handing over job letters in a few days,” he affirmed, with recent actions fulfilling this commitment. Additionally, Sinha announced plans to reopen old terror cases and restore encroached lands, further supporting affected families. The ‘Bharat Sanrachna J&K 2025’ initiative, attended by representatives from ministries like Mines, Commerce, Defence, MSME, Space, and Tourism, aims to educate and engage citizens, fostering awareness of government schemes and driving innovation-led growth. Sinha urged schools and colleges to participate, emphasizing the role of youth in shaping the region’s future during the “Amrit Kaal” journey toward a developed India by 2047.
Sinha also addressed divisive narratives threatening peace, warning against false claims of demographic invasion and cultural erosion, likening them to terror outfit propaganda. He called for unity to sustain the region’s progress, where “children have pens in their hands, not stones, and the noise of factories, tourists, and laughter replaces separatism.”
With initiatives like free electricity distribution (200 units) for deserving families and plans for self-sufficiency in hydropower by 2026, Jammu and Kashmir is poised for sustained growth. The Lieutenant Governor’s vision, backed by robust policies and a commitment to inclusivity, is steering the Union Territory toward a future where opportunities are equitable, and aspirations are realised.
