Jammu & Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, chaired a high-level meeting in Baramulla to review the district’s development landscape. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of ongoing projects, addressing implementation challenges, and ensuring the timely execution of key initiatives across various sectors.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted an extensive review of projects executed by various departments, including Public Works, Health, Rural Development, Education, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Jal Jeevan Mission, and KPDCL, among others.
Legislators from the region raised several key issues, including concerns related to mining in the Uri sub-division, the development of Parihaspora and Pattan as heritage villages, the expediting of drainage works in Sopore, and the macadamization of roads in Wagoora-Kreeri. Other important development demands were also brought to the forefront.
In response to these concerns, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed the relevant officers to expedite the ongoing projects to ensure their timely completion. He emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between elected officials and the officers to meet the aspirations of the people and transform Baramulla into a thriving economic hub.
Earlier, the District Development Commissioner briefed the Deputy Chief Minister on the district’s development status and highlighted long-pending demands, such as establishing mini secretariats in Sopore, Tangmarg, Baramulla, and Uri, multi-level parking facilities in Sopore and Baramulla, upgrading GMC Baramulla and adding specialized doctors, upgrading the Gulmarg road, promoting eco-tourism in Mund Daji, Kitar Daji, and Shrunz Fall, building a boundary wall and upgrading roads around SKAUST Wadoora, modernizing the sewage network in towns, and installing floodlights in stadiums.
In response to these demands, the Deputy Chief Minister sought updates from the relevant department heads and directed them to prioritize the necessary tasks and complete them within a set timeframe to avoid any unnecessary delays.
The Deputy Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fast-tracking development and improving public infrastructure in Baramulla. He assured the gathering that all legitimate demands and grievances would be addressed promptly. He urged all stakeholders to maintain a result-oriented approach and work towards making Baramulla a model district in terms of governance, infrastructure, and public services.
