Srinagar, July 24,2026-Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance and the establishment of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Centre of Excellence in AI in Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary highlighted the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in public administration, stating that AI can significantly enhance government efficiency, transparency, data-driven decision-making, and citizen-centric service delivery. He emphasized that the integration of AI technologies would help modernize governance and improve the quality of public services across the Union Territory.
Reviewing the progress made so far, Dulloo directed all government departments to work in close coordination with the Information Technology Department for the successful implementation of AI-driven initiatives. He instructed departments to nominate dedicated nodal officers and ensure the timely sharing of high-quality datasets required for developing and deploying AI-based governance solutions.
The Chief Secretary stressed that inter-departmental collaboration and robust data management would be key to harnessing the full potential of Artificial Intelligence for efficient governance and improved public service delivery in Jammu & Kashmir.
The proposed MeitY Centre of Excellence in AI is expected to serve as a catalyst for innovation, digital transformation, and the adoption of emerging technologies across government departments, reinforcing Jammu & Kashmir’s vision of becoming a technology-enabled and future-ready administration.
