Pinky, a craftswoman, had come from Kathua, Basohli for the G20 Meeting. She was grateful to the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha who gave her the opportunity to participate in the 3rd Tourism Working Group Meeting event that took place in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir from May 22-May 24, 2023. Maqbool Jaan, craftsman from Kashmir said that export of products should increase after the G20 event. The craftspersons were given training and now Basohli artists do paintings on coasters, even print it on mugs. Workshops, international level demonstrations should be organised, say craftsmen. Mushtaq Ahmed, a craftsman, participated in the event to show a live demonstration of his skills. Yasmina participated to get more benefits from the event. The craftsmen are hopeful of getting a boost with the presence of foreign delegates. The event will bring more tourists and more sales. For the womenfolk of Kashmir it was a big thing that they became a part of the G20 event. Pashmina, carpets, Kani shawl, carpetware, all the famous crafts were present here. Moreover, development in Kashmir happened because of the G20 event, roads, buildings and markets were redeveloped. A beginning has been made which is good. Compared with the previous times, it is totally different. We feel it is a ‘Naya Kashmir’, craftsmen said.
