Held at the Civil Secretariat, the meeting focused on reinforcing vulnerable areas, evacuating residents from inundated villages, and restoring essential services to mitigate the impact of the ongoing crisis.CM Abdullah, a seasoned leader with gray hair and glasses, was seen in a blue shirt, gesturing decisively at the head of a long conference table adorned with Indian flags.
Attendees, including senior officials in formal attire, reviewed documents while screens displayed simultaneous discussions with district authorities. The Chief Minister directed officials to reinforce weak embankments, particularly along rivers like the Jhelum and Tawi, to prevent further flooding. He emphasized the urgent evacuation of people from flood-affected villages, such as Zenipora in Pampore, to safer locations.“Round-the-clock monitoring through control rooms is critical,” CM Abdullah stated, urging district officials to conduct frequent visits to affected areas and issue timely advisories to keep residents informed and calm.
He stressed the importance of public cooperation, advising citizens to stay alert and avoid panic. The Chief Minister also prioritized the swift restoration of essential services, including power, water supply, and road connectivity, which have been severely disrupted by flash floods and landslides across districts like Ramban, Udhampur, and Samba.The meeting included input from the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir and Deputy Commissioners, who provided updates on local response efforts.
CM Abdullah assured additional funds for emergency restoration and called for coordinated action with the Army, NDRF, and SDRF to expedite relief operations.
