Ganderbal, May 20, 2025 — Former Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah held a public outreach program at the historic Dak Bungalow in Ganderbal today, meeting with multiple delegations and individuals from across the district. The visit was part of his ongoing efforts to reconnect with grassroots communities and directly address pressing public concerns.
In a day-long interaction, Abdullah heard grievances ranging from infrastructure shortfalls to issues related to healthcare, employment, and civic amenities. Several delegations, including local panchayat members, youth representatives, and civil society groups, submitted memoranda highlighting developmental gaps in their respective areas.
Among the key demands raised were the establishment of fire and emergency services in remote areas, completion of stalled road and drainage projects, upgradation of primary health centers, and increased job opportunities for local youth. Delegates from rural blocks like Lar, Kangan, and Safapora also flagged concerns about crop loss due to erratic irrigation and the need for better compensation mechanisms.
Omar Abdullah assured attendees that the National Conference would actively pursue these matters with the concerned administrative departments. He also emphasised the importance of sustained dialogue between elected representatives and the public to bridge the governance gap.
District officials, including representatives from the Rural Development Department, Public Works, and Health Services, were present during the interaction and took note of the concerns raised. Omar Abdullah urged them to expedite follow-up actions and submit status reports within a fixed timeframe.
Before concluding his visit, Abdullah reiterated his party’s commitment to inclusive development and vowed to continue holding similar outreach programs in other districts. “People want their problems solved, not just promises. We intend to be a channel for those solutions,” he said.
The event witnessed a significant turnout, reflecting the public’s eagerness to engage with political leadership in a direct and transparent manner.
