Srinagar, 17 September ,2025:Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the newly constructed Transport Bhawan at Bemina, Srinagar, and formally launched PVC-based Registration Certificates (RCs) for vehicles in the Union Territory.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that the state-of-the-art Transport Bhawan will serve as a modern hub for the Transport Department, aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and citizen services. The facility is expected to streamline processes related to vehicle registration, licensing, and other transport-related services.
The introduction of PVC-based Registration Certificates marks a significant shift from traditional paper RCs to more durable, tamper-proof, and technologically secure smart cards. Officials highlighted that the new system will enhance vehicle registration security, reduce chances of forgery, and provide convenience to vehicle owners across Jammu and Kashmir.
Transport Department authorities added that services at the newly inaugurated Bhawan will be further digitised in phases to support the government’s vision of modernizing transport infrastructure and promoting e-governance in the region.
With the dual initiatives—the inauguration of the Transport Bhawan in Bemina and the rollout of PVC-based vehicle RCs—the government aims to provide faster, transparent, and citizen-friendly services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
