Srinagar, October 15,2025: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level review meeting of the Mining Department to assess the department’s performance, policy reforms, and progress on ongoing projects across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, officials presented detailed reports on mineral extraction, e-auction processes, environmental safeguards, and revenue generation. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, and sustainable mining practices, directing officials to take firm action against illegal mining activities.
Omar Abdullah emphasised the adoption of modern technologies and digital monitoring systems to improve efficiency and ensure environmentally responsible resource management. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to balanced economic development, ensuring that mining operations benefit local communities while preserving ecological integrity.
The Chief Minister urged the department to focus on policy-driven governance, streamline procedures, and enhance inter-departmental coordination to maximise the state’s mineral potential responsibly.
