J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah meets LG Manoj Sinha in Srinagar

Srinagar, March 24, 2025 – The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah, called on the Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, marking another instance of coordination between the elected government and the Raj Bhavan amid the Union Territory’s ongoing budget session and developmental initiatives.

The meeting, held at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar, comes at a time when the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is deliberating the 2025 budget, the first presented by an elected government in over seven years. While official details of the discussion were not immediately disclosed, sources suggest it may have touched on key administrative and developmental priorities, including the nearing completion of projects like the Amira Kadal Bridge, which is set to open as a cultural and scenic landmark.

Omar Abdullah, who assumed office on October 16, 2024, ending a six-year period of central rule, has been actively engaging with stakeholders to address the region’s economic and infrastructural needs. His government’s focus on tourism and employment generation, as highlighted in recent Assembly discussions, aligns with the Lieutenant Governor’s emphasis on transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a hub of peace and prosperity.

This meeting follows a pattern of collaboration between the Chief Minister and the Lieutenant Governor, with a similar interaction held on March 1 ahead of the budget session’s commencement in Jammu. The interaction underscores the hybrid governance model in Jammu and Kashmir, where the elected government and the Lieutenant Governor’s administration work in tandem under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. As the region navigates its post-Article 370 landscape, such engagements are seen as critical to balancing local aspirations with central oversight.
