Jammu, March 15, 2025 – In a recent session of the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister addressed concerns raised by an Honorable MLA regarding delays in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) departmental examinations. The Chief Minister acknowledged the setbacks but assured lawmakers that the process is now nearing completion.
Responding to the question, the Chief Minister stated, “I acknowledge the delays in the JKAS departmental exams, but I want to assure the House that the process is in its final stages. The syllabus finalization is almost complete, and once finalized, the exams will be conducted without further delay.”
The JKAS exams, critical for the career progression of administrative officers in Jammu and Kashmir, have faced prolonged delays, causing frustration among aspirants. The syllabus revision, described as a comprehensive update, is the first since 2000 and aims to align the exams with current national standards. Officials have indicated that this overhaul is a key reason for the extended timeline but emphasized that it will ensure a more robust and relevant examination process.
With the syllabus finalization now in its concluding phase, candidates can expect the examination schedule to be announced soon. The government’s commitment to expediting the process has been met with cautious optimism, as stakeholders await concrete timelines for the long-overdue exams.
