Srinagar, October 5, 2025 – In a significant display of corporate social responsibility, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank (J&K Bank) has contributed a substantial ₹4.10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, aimed at bolstering relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected families across the Union Territory.The cheque was formally handed over by the Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Amitava Chatterjee, accompanied by members of the Board of Directors, to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariatin Srinagar. This gesture underscores the institution’s unwavering commitment to supporting communities during crises.Chief Minister Abdullah expressed his deep appreciation for the J&K Bank’s initiative, highlighting how such acts of solidarity from key institutions reflect a unified resolve to aid those in distress.
“This contribution will play a pivotal role in alleviating the hardships faced by flood-affected families and accelerating the rehabilitationprocess,” he stated, extending gratitude to the bank’s management and employees.The recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir have wreaked havoc, leading to widespread destruction, loss of lives, and severe damage to infrastructure, particularly in the Jammu region. Thousands of families have been displaced, and urgent relief measures are underway to provide shelter, food, and medical assistance.Earlier this month, J&K Bank employees had also mobilized relief materials worth ₹1 crore, which were distributed among the affected populations.
Chatterjee emphasized that the bank’s workforce views itself as an integral part of the local community, standing “shoulder to shoulder” with those rebuilding their lives.This contribution to the CM’s Relief Fund not only aids immediate recovery but also aligns with broader efforts to foster resilience against natural disasters in the region.
