Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, September 8, 2025: Reinforcing its commitment to enhancing financial access and driving economic growth in North Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Bank (J&K Bank) inaugurated two new branches at Nanak Bhawan in Baramulla and Bumhama in Kupwara. The strategic expansion aims to deepen banking services in rural and semi-urban areas, fostering financial inclusion and supporting local economies.The Nanak Bhawan branch in Baramulla was inaugurated by Zonal Head (Baramulla) Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, alongside Cluster Head Sheikh Muzaffar and Branch Head Wajid Hamid. The event saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, traders, senior citizens, and representatives of employees’ and traders’ federations. The branch, equipped with modern banking facilities, is set to serve as a vital hub for financial services in the region, catering to diverse needs such as deposits, loans, and digital banking solutions.In Kupwara, the Bumhama branch was commissioned to extend J&K Bank’s reach into rural pockets, addressing the growing demand for accessible banking.
The inauguration was attended by local dignitaries, customers, and bank officials, who hailed the move as a significant step toward empowering communities through financial empowerment. The branch aims to support local entrepreneurs, farmers, and traders by providing tailored financial products, including loans under schemes like Mission YUVA and the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).Local residents and traders expressed optimism about the economic impact of these branches.
“The Nanak Bhawan branch will make banking services more convenient and encourage small businesses to grow,” said a Baramulla-based trader. In Bumhama, a local entrepreneur noted, “This branch is a game-changer for Kupwara’s rural economy, enabling easier access to credit and financial tools.” The openings align with calls from public representatives, such as MP Er Rashid, who emphasized the need for new J&K Bank branches in Baramulla and Kupwara to boost financial inclusion and economic development.Speaking at the Nanak Bhawan inauguration, Zonal Head Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat stated, “J&K Bank is dedicated to bringing world-class banking services to every corner of Jammu and Kashmir.
