J&K adopts 3 Tier Panchayati System, getting more funds and functionaries than other states

Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference met the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. Sarpanch Atta Mohammad Qamar shared the development of Panchayati Raj with the Lt Governor. He told the Lt Governor, from the time Panchayati Raj has been implemented, its benefits have been seen coming to the people. On the ground level, development is taking place at a good pace. The Sarpanch said that this time the power that has been given to the Panchayats by the government has never ever been given before. The representatives praised the government for handling and taking care of the progress of the community. Sheikh Muzaffar, President JKPNF said, the public representatives here attached to the villages understand the problems in their villages. Shri Manoj Sinha addressing the panchayat conference said, the 73rd and 74th amendment to the Constitution of India established the Panchayati Raj system. With the amendment, sarpanch representatives have been given some authority. He said although the three tier Panchayati system has been implemented late in J&K but in this short period, compared to other states, more funds, functions and functionaries have been transferred in Jammu & Kashmir. The LG further added that it is the Prime Minister’s intention that people connect to the ground and those who represent the common man if the administration will have dialogue with them, then a better system and better governance system can be maintained in the state and the nation.
