Jhiri Mela 2025: LG Manoj Sinha Honours the Spirit of Baba Jitto and Jammu’s Traditions Festive prayers and religious gatherings begin across Jammu and Kashmir from the full moon of Kartik month. And I, personally, consider the observance of the traditions associated with this auspicious occasion as a form of energy for the welfare of the society, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha while inaugurating the annual Jhiri Mela at Marh Sub Division in Jammu. Along with the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, devotees from different parts of the country are continuously coming forward to adopt the values of love, peace and brotherhood of Baba Jitto. In an effort to provide better facilities to the devotees at the Jhiri Mela in the last few years, the Jammu administration has completed the construction of a new community hall in two years. Today, that hall has been inaugurated in your presence, LG said. Apart from the fair, the facility of resting and taking prasad for the devotees visiting this temple throughout the year, staying during emergency and organizing spiritual gatherings throughout the year will now be available here. Friends, it is true that Baba Jitto’s life is extraordinary. His life was deeply rooted in the welfare of others and the spirit of sharing their sorrows and pains. And I believe that the efforts of the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir include Baba Jitto’s passion for social justice and his tireless struggle for the achievement of that justice. Today, I would like to tell all the devoted sisters and brothers who have come here from neighbouring states and different parts of the country that the holy land of Baba Jitto is very unique in the entire world, LG stated. If you look at the life of Baba Jitto himself, his personality appears different from others. He did not belong to any one sect or community but he belonged to the entire society. Baba Jitto is the biggest symbol of public welfare, LG said. Baba Jitto was a message in himself. And their values of truth, non-violence and brotherhood make Jhiri Mela an important part of the culture. This fair reminds us how to make the lives of the artists associated with that art better. It is our collective responsibility to provide market to local artisans, craftsmen, traders and artists and work day and night to strengthen the local system, LG stated. I am confident that the accomplishment of these resolutions will create new self-confidence in the society. And it will also work to give Jammu and Kashmir its rightful place in the developed states and groups. Let us take a pledge today, remembering Baba Jitto with new energy, that we should all contribute together whatever we can to make this entire region economically prosperous and developed. The Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the people and also congratulated the administration and all those friends who associated with this fair for organising this excellent event.
