SRINAGAR, April 19, 2025 – In a bold and optimistic proclamation, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that the Jammu region, recently plagued by terror incidents, is on course to achieve full peace within the next six months. Addressing a gathering of business leaders from YPO-Global One at Srinagar’s Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre, LG Sinha outlined a resolute strategy to eliminate terrorism and its ecosystem from Jammu & Kashmir, signaling a transformative phase of stability, unity, and prosperity for the Union Territory.
“We are not chasing temporary calm; our mission is to forge enduring peace,” LG Sinha asserted, underscoring the relentless efforts of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and security forces to dismantle terror networks. “With targeted measures in place, I am confident that Jammu will be completely peaceful within six months,” he said, addressing concerns over recent attacks in the region. His statement reflects a determined push to ensure both Jammu and Kashmir divisions become terrorism-free, building on significant progress in curbing militancy in the Kashmir Valley.
LG Sinha credited the region’s advancements to the visionary policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which have prioritized peace, security, and inclusive development. He highlighted the administration’s multifaceted approach, combining robust counter-terrorism operations with cultural and economic revitalization. The recent Passing Out Parade of 438 J&K Police recruits, including 86 women, symbolizes strengthened security infrastructure, while the premiere of the Bollywood film Ground Zero in Srinagar marks a cultural renaissance, signaling the Valley’s return to normalcy.
Taking a firm stance against external interference, LG Sinha called out Pakistan for its role in fueling unrest. “Pakistan, mired in its own crises, must stop exporting terrorism to Jammu & Kashmir,” he urged, dismissing narratives of “forced normalcy.” He pointed to vibrant indicators of progress—thriving schools, packed cinema halls, and a booming tourism sector, with over two crore visitors in recent years—as evidence of genuine transformation. The upcoming Kanyakumari-Srinagar rail link and near-complete road connectivity to villages further bolster the region’s development trajectory.
Economic growth remains a cornerstone of LG Sinha’s vision. He emphasized sustainable, eco-friendly industrial development, positioning Jammu & Kashmir as a hub for research, Information Technology, and tourism. “Our handlooms, handicrafts, and horticulture exports have doubled, reflecting the region’s untapped potential,” he noted, encouraging global investors to seize emerging opportunities. These efforts align with a broader goal of fostering innovation and self-reliance, ensuring long-term prosperity.
The announcement coincides with a significant decline in separatist influence, exemplified by the dissociation of groups like the Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party from the Hurriyat Conference. This shift, hailed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the “final breath of separatism,” reinforces LG Sinha’s confidence in restoring peace. The administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, coupled with community engagement, is dismantling the remnants of divisive ideologies.
As Jammu & Kashmir strides toward a brighter future, LG Sinha’s six-month timeline for peace in Jammu is both a promise and a challenge. By blending security enhancements with cultural and economic progress, the administration is crafting a resilient, united region. The journey from conflict to harmony is well underway, with Jammu & Kashmir poised to emerge as a model of peace and progress under LG Sinha’s leadership.
