JAMMU, May 6:-In line with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive for nationwide mock drills, students at a government school in Jammu participated in a comprehensive disaster preparedness exercise on Monday. The drill was designed to equip young learners with the skills and awareness necessary to respond effectively during emergencies.
The mock drill included evacuation procedures, first aid demonstrations, and rapid response training under the supervision of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and school safety officers. The exercise simulated scenarios like earthquakes, fires, and other potential crises to ensure practical understanding and quick decision-making.
This initiative comes as part of a countrywide campaign spearheaded by the MHA, which has mandated civil defence mock drills in schools, colleges, and institutions across India on May 7, aiming to foster a culture of safety and readiness.
Speaking about the exercise, school authorities emphasized the importance of training students to remain calm and act responsibly in high-pressure situations. Parents and local residents also lauded the initiative, highlighting its value in creating a resilient and informed younger generation.
