Jammu & Kashmir Witnessing Unprecedented Growth Across All Sectors: LG Manoj Sinha There is a lot of progress in all sectors compared to before, informed the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir. If I start with infrastructure, then connectivity is the biggest contributor to the development of any area. All villages with a population of 250 have been connected by road except three. Earlier it used to take more than eight hours to travel from Jammu to Srinagar. Now people are reaching there comfortably in four to four-and-a-half hours. Roughly one-and-a half lakh crore rupees worth of highways, expressways and tunnels are under construction. Due to this, people got lot of convenience while travelling on Jammu Ring Road, Srinagar Ring Roa and, Katra Jammu Expressway. Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Sonamarg Tunnel. The road to Sonmarg is now open for 12 months. Zoji-la tunnel under construction connects to Leh, LG added. Rail connectivity has also been extended from Srinagar to Kanyakumari. With regards to air connectivity, a new terminal has been constructed in Jammu, capacity expansion has taken place and night landing has begun. The number of flights to Srinagar and Jammu has increased significantly compared to earlier. We generate hydropower of approximately 3400-3500 MW. Because we depend on rain, hydropower is less generated in winter, LG shared. Four projects of about 3200 MW are underway, hopefully will be completed in May 26. Our solar power capacity has also increased. In the transmission and distribution sector, we are in that sitauation where we can supply 24×7 power, said the Lieutenant Governpr of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha.
