Srinagar, J&K | November 11, 2025-In a major step toward sustainable development, 5,413 households across Jammu and Kashmir have been electrified under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, marking a significant stride in the Union Territory’s clean energy mission.
Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, reviewed the progress of the ambitious rooftop solar initiative, which aims to empower households through renewable energy and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. Officials from the Power Development Department presented detailed updates on installation status, beneficiary outreach, and integration with the power grid.
Thousands of families are now benefiting from free and sustainable electricity, cutting down on energy bills while contributing to India’s green energy transition. The initiative also aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving energy self-reliance and net-zero emissions through localised solar generation.
The administration has urged more residents to register under the scheme and avail of subsidies for rooftop solar installations, ensuring that every household contributes to a cleaner, greener Jammu and Kashmir.
