Jammu ,January 30,2026- The sporting landscape of Jammu is set for a major revival as the Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC), prepares to launch the YSS-JKSC Football Premier League and Cricket Premier League next month.
The twin premier leagues aim to promote grassroots sports, provide competitive exposure to local talent, and strengthen Jammu’s position as a growing hub for football and cricket in the Union Territory. Sports officials said the leagues would offer young players a professional platform while reigniting enthusiasm among sports lovers.
Matches are expected to be held at prominent venues, including the MA Stadium and Parade Ground synthetic turf, with preparations already underway to ensure world-class facilities and smooth conduct of fixtures. Both leagues will follow structured formats to maintain competitive balance and sporting discipline.
The organisers have placed special emphasis on encouraging homegrown players, with eligibility criteria designed to maximise participation from the Jammu region. The initiative is also expected to help scouts and coaches identify promising athletes for higher-level competitions.
Officials said experienced administrators, referees, umpires, and coaches will be involved to ensure matches are conducted as per established football and cricket regulations. Evening matches under floodlights, opening ceremonies, and live coverage on digital platforms are also being planned to enhance spectator engagement.
With growing interest among clubs and players, the YSS-JKSC Premier Leagues are being seen as a significant step towards revitalising competitive sports culture in Jammu, offering young athletes a pathway to district, state, and national-level recognition.
The upcoming leagues are expected to draw large crowds and mark a vibrant start to the region’s sporting calendar next month.
