Srinagar, 25 September 2025:The Jammu Division of Indian Railways successfully conducted a mega e-auction for the allotment of stalls at various railway stations across the Kashmir Valley, aimed at boosting non-fare revenue and optimising railway assets.
Organised under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SDCM) Uchit Singhal, the auction witnessed active participation from bidders across the region. The initiative seeks to enhance passenger amenities while supporting local economic growth through new business opportunities at railway stations.
Several stalls were allotted across key stations. Mobile and mobile accessories outlets were allotted at Banihal, Awantipora, and Anantnag Railway Stations, while grocery and photocopier outlets were allocated at Anantnag, Sangaldan, Srinagar, Awantipora, and Banihal.
The e-auction is expected to generate a total revenue of Rs 26,16,963 over three years. Besides financial gains, the initiative will provide convenient services for passengers and create employment opportunities, contributing to the local economy of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the success of the initiative, Uchit Singhal said such efforts not only unlock the potential of railway assets but also align with the broader goal of transforming Indian Railways into a more passenger-friendly and economically vibrant entity. He added that the Jammu Division remains committed to innovative revenue-generating strategies while continuously improving passenger services and station infrastructure.
The e-auction reflects Indian Railways’ strategy to maximise asset utilisation, enhance passenger facilities, and strengthen operational efficiency across stations in the Kashmir Valley.
