Jammu Tawi, March 12, 2025 – In a remarkable achievement, over 61 lakh youth from Jammu and Kashmir have participated in sports activities over the past year, according to an official document released by the administration. This surge highlights the region’s growing emphasis on sports as a means of youth engagement and development. The administration has been actively developing world-class sports infrastructure, including playfields, stadiums, and indoor sports halls at the Panchayat level, with Gulmarg emerging as a hub for winter sports in India
Jammu and Kashmir Sports Policy 2022 for bolstering institutional support, providing coaching, and offering financial aid to promising athletes. This initiative has yielded impressive results, with athletes from the region securing 549 national medals (169 gold, 170 silver, 210 bronze) and 16 international medals (8 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze) in the 2023-24 period. Facilities like the fully operational Gymnastics Academy at MA Stadium in Jammu and the upcoming center at Gindun Stadium in Srinagar underscore the region’s commitment to fostering sporting talent.
