Srinagar, September 16, 2025 – In a heartwarming initiative to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community, the India Reserve Police (IRP) 6th Battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a Civic Action Programme at Government Boys School, Natipora, in Srinagar. The event saw the distribution of educational kits, including school bags and essential accessories, to dozens of underprivileged students, fostering a spirit of goodwill and emphasizing the importance of education. The programme, part of the J&K Police’s ongoing efforts to strengthen police-community relations, aimed to provide material support while promoting values like discipline, social harmony, and academic excellence. Over 50 students benefited from the donations, which included high-quality school bags, notebooks, stationery items, and other learning aids, bringing smiles and renewed motivation to young learners from economically weaker sections of society. Commandant Suhail Munawar Mir of IRP 6th Battalion led the distribution ceremony, interacting with the students and teachers to underscore the police’s commitment to youth empowerment.
“These small gestures go a long way in building trust and encouraging the next generation to pursue education as a tool for progress,” Mir stated, highlighting the battalion’s role in such outreach activities.Additionally, the event featured the installation and distribution of water purifiers to ensure access to clean drinking water in the school premises, addressing basic hygiene needs amid ongoing public health awareness drives. This dual focus on education and health underscores the holistic approach of the Civic Action Programme, which has impacted thousands of beneficiaries across the Kashmir Valley over the years through similar initiatives.
The J&K Police’s IRP units have a history of such community-oriented efforts, with plans for more programmes in the coming weeks targeting schools and youth in various districts. Officials reiterated that these activities not only aid immediate needs but also cultivate long-term partnerships between the force and local communities.
