Reasi, December 18,2025:Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik (IAS), on Tuesday flagged off a five-day trekking camp at Patnitop for 100 students, aimed at promoting physical fitness, adventure sports, teamwork, leadership skills and environmental awareness among the youth.
The trekking camp has been organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) as part of its ongoing efforts to encourage holistic development of students through outdoor and experiential learning. The participating students will engage in guided treks, team-building activities, nature awareness sessions and discipline-oriented programmes during the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Nidhi Malik said that such initiatives play a vital role in shaping confident, resilient and socially responsible youth. She emphasised that exposure to adventure activities not only improves physical and mental well-being but also instils values such as team spirit, self-reliance and respect for nature.
The Deputy Commissioner lauded the Youth Services & Sports Department for consistently organising meaningful programmes that provide students with opportunities beyond classrooms, especially in promoting sports culture, adventure tourism and environmental conservation in the district.
Officials of the DYSS informed that the trekking camp will follow strict safety protocols, with trained instructors and support staff accompanying the students throughout the programme. They added that Patnitop’s scenic terrain offers an ideal setting for adventure-based learning and ecological awareness.
Parents and participants appreciated the initiative, terming it a valuable platform for personal growth, fitness and exposure to nature.
