India’s Kshitij Tyagi slams Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir

United Nations, Geneva, March 01, 2025 – India delivered a sharp rebuke to Pakistan during a recent United Nations council session, dismissing what it called “patently false and malicious remarks” regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian delegation, in a pointed response, accused Pakistan of repeatedly provoking the council with propaganda, undermining its proceedings with baseless claims.

“We are constrained to take the floor to respond to yet another provocation by the delegation of one particular country,” the Indian representative stated, without directly naming Pakistan, though the context left little doubt. “Facts are all it takes to demolish such false narratives. The Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India.”

The rebuttal came amid ongoing tensions, with Pakistan frequently raising the Kashmir issue at international forums. India’s representative emphasized the democratic strides in the region, citing the successful 2024 general elections and the first phase of legislative assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which saw enthusiastic voter turnout. “The rapid pace of development in Jammu and Kashmir, with its budget more than doubling, stands in stark contrast to the bailout package this country sought from the IMF,” the delegate added, taking a swipe at Pakistan’s economic struggles.

The Indian statement underscored that facts remain lost on a nation “busy with propaganda,” highlighting the irony of Pakistan’s accusations against India. “Such a country making fallacious claims about India does a great disservice to the work of this council,” the representative concluded, addressing the council president directly.

This exchange reflects India’s consistent stance at the UN, where it has repeatedly asserted Jammu and Kashmir’s status as an integral part of its territory while accusing Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism and spreading misinformation. The remarks align with earlier statements in 2025, such as those made by India’s Permanent Representative Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish on February 19 at the UN Security Council, reaffirming India’s position and condemning Pakistan’s rhetoric.

As the council session concluded, the sharp exchange underscored the deepening divide between the two nations, with India leveraging facts of democratic participation and development to counter Pakistan’s narrative. The international community continues to watch closely as this longstanding dispute plays out on the global stage.
