Tangmarg, March 18, 2025: The Indian Army, in a bid to tackle the acute shortage of blood during the holy month of Ramzan, organised a blood donation camp at Townhall Tangmarg. The initiative, led by the Dagger Division of Chinar Corps, aimed to address the pressing need for blood donations to support local medical facilities during a time of increased demand.
The camp commenced with a briefing by the Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) on the significance of maintaining a continuous and sufficient blood supply, particularly during critical periods. A medical team from the Blood Bank of the Government Medical College Srinagar was present to facilitate the screening and collection process, ensuring that all donations met necessary health and safety standards.
The camp saw an enthusiastic turnout from Indian Army soldiers, staff from the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tangmarg, and local residents. Together, they demonstrated a spirit of unity and compassion as they contributed to this noble cause. Through their collective efforts, a total of 53 units of blood were successfully collected, which will provide essential support to medical facilities in the region.
This blood donation camp not only helped meet the urgent need for blood during Ramzan but also strengthened the bond between the Indian Army and the local community. The initiative underscored the Army’s commitment to supporting public health and providing humanitarian assistance, further deepening the relationship between the armed forces and the civilians they serve.
