Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore marks 22 years of empowering youth

Sopore, August 22,2026- For than 22 years the Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore has been working quietly to change how kids learn in North Kashmir. The Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore helps thousands of students by mixing school lessons with digital tools, sports and fun cultural activities. These things help kids build confidence and skills so they can have a better future.

The school started as part of Operation Sadbhavana. This is a project by the Indian Army to help people in Jammu and Kashmir. When the school first opened the area was going through a lot of times and conflict. Then it was very hard for local families to find a safe place where their children could get a good education. Now after twenty years the Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore is one of than 45 Army Goodwill Schools working in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. This whole network of schools is a part of how the Indian Army shows goodwill to the people living there.

The school uses a set plan for teaching that follows CBSE standards. The teachers focus on grades making sure kids really understand their subjects and helping them grow in every way. It is not about reading books though. At the Sopore campus students can play sports do training and join art or culture programs. These activities help students learn how to work as a team and become leaders.

Lately the school has started using technology. They have added classrooms and computer labs to help students in North Kashmir learn the same way kids in big cities do. By using these tools the Indian Army Goodwill School network is trying to close the gap between remote areas of Kashmir and the modern world.

You can really see the results in how the students do on their big board exams. But the Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore does more than help with grades. The school gives hope and a chance to children in Sopore especially since many of their families have lived through years of fighting and trouble in the region.

School life is also full of community events. Over the years students at the Sopore campus have joined art workshops and painting contests. They also celebrate days like Independence Day, Republic Day and Gandhi Jayanti. These celebrations help teach students about loving their country while they learn their school subjects. Even old students come back to the school to talk to the kids and share their stories.

The whole Army Goodwill Schools idea started because people realized that kids in off or difficult parts of Jammu and Kashmir needed a steady hand to help them get a good education. Since the first schools opened in the 1990s the network has grown a lot. Today these schools teach thousands of students every year. Provide jobs for many local teachers and staff.

As the Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore celebrates over two decades of work it is much more than a place for lessons. To the people the Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore is a sign that someone cares about the community even when things are hard. By focusing on schoolwork, computers and growing as a person the school is ready to keep helping the young people of North Kashmir reach their dreams.

For families living in Sopore and nearby the story of the Indian Army Goodwill School Sopore over the 22 years shows that staying committed to a goal can bring real hope and new chances, to the next generation.
