Kupwara, August 1, 2025 – As part of an ongoing Youth Awareness Campaign, the Indian Army organized a talk at Government High School (GHS) in Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir, focusing on ‘Operation Sindoor’ and the nation’s firm stance against terrorism. The event, held on July 31, 2025, aimed to educate students about the Indian Armed Forces’ resolute commitment to a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and inspire youth to contribute to a peaceful and secure future.
The talk highlighted the significance of Operation Sindoor, a precision military strike launched on May 7, 2025, targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. Led by the Indian Army and Air Force, the operation destroyed key infrastructure of terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen, eliminating approximately 140 terrorists.
The campaign emphasized how Operation Sindoor underscored India’s unwavering resolve to combat cross-border terrorism, delivering a strong message to sponsors of terror activities.Army personnel engaged students with insights into the operation’s objectives, its strategic impact, and the broader goal of fostering national unity against terrorism. “Operation Sindoor was a testament to our nation’s strength and zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.
We aim to inspire young minds to support peace and security,” said an Army representative. The interactive session encouraged students to ask questions, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges posed by terrorism and the military’s role in safeguarding the region.The Youth Awareness Campaign, supported by the Northern Command and Chinar Corps, seeks to connect with communities in J&K, particularly in areas like Kupwara, which have faced the brunt of cross-border tensions. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to empower youth, complementing programs like the J&K Startup Policy and JKEDI’s innovation-driven activities.
The event concluded with students expressing appreciation for the Army’s efforts, reinforcing the campaign’s goal of building trust and inspiring the next generation to uphold national integrity.
